It’s not too often a date automatically brings a photo to mind the second I hear it. But January 23 1986 was my dog Ellie’s first birthday. My kindergarten best friend David had not been exposed to dogs much before the age of 5 but he came to like Ellie. On Ellie’s Birthday David and I celebrated by making homemade dog biscuits and having a birthday party. Note the elegant gift wrap job. We used paper towels and marker.
Also worth noting this is one of the few photos my mother took because film was expensive and so was processing. I treasure these printed images like you would not even believe.
This past year my friend David and his wife welcomed a little one into the world. I look forward to seeing photos like these of his child growing up!
